Everyone knows that speaking English is the best way to improve ones English language skills. At Village English, we put great emphasis on interaction with English-speaking Canadians. Examples of this philosophy are:
I.
Village English students give cultural presentations to local schools. Our students have a chance to share customs with Canadian students such as clothing, food, music, dance, and ideas that make each culture unique
II.
Village English regularly invites guest speakers to the school to talk with our students. Our students have met lawyers, engineers, police officers, veterinarians, entertainers, and even Mounties!
III.
Students with an intermediate level of English can volunteer with local organizations to improve their English skills in a real-world environment. The students help out at shows, lend a hand organizing festivals and demonstrate their business skills thereby creating opportunities for themselves.
Pot luck lunches and other social functions ensure students gain the social opportunities to make friends and relax. Our students often become very close, and usually keep in touch long after they leave us. Many of our graduates, who are now using English in their jobs or traveling the world still keep in touch with our teachers for their guidance. We have a saying - "Once a Village English student, always a Village English student."
